Here is a detailed breakdown of why this academy is the go-to for the CSUN community. 1. Location: Less Than 5 Minutes Away Address: 19520 Nordhoff St, Unit 10, [**Northridge**](https://gbnorthridge.com/northridge-kids-self-defense-anti-bullying-bjj-gracie-barra/), CA 91324. Proximity: The academy is located on Nordhoff St, the same street as the university. It is approximately 1 mile west of the campus. Convenience: You can drive there in 3–5 minutes or even skateboard/bike from campus in under 10 minutes. This makes it incredibly easy to fit a class in between lectures or after studying. 2. Student-Friendly [**Schedule**](https://gbnorthridge.com/?page_id=2237) College schedules are erratic. Gracie Barra [**Northridge**](https://gbnorthridge.com/northridge-kids-self-defense-anti-bullying-bjj-gracie-barra/) accommodates this with a robust timetable. Morning Classes (6 AM / 7 AM): Train before your 8:00 AM lecture. Lunch Classes (12:00 PM): A perfect break in the middle of the day. Evening Classes (6 PM – 9 PM): Multiple options for after class/work. 3. Stress Relief & Focus University life is stressful. BJJ provides a physical outlet that burns off anxiety and improves mental focus (“Neuroplasticity”). The “Third Place”: It offers a community outside of the campus bubble where students can interact with professionals from various fields, providing networking opportunities alongside training. 4. Safety & Structure for Beginners Many college students have no martial arts background. GB1 Fundamentals: New students start in a safe, no-sparring environment. You won’t go to class the next day with a black eye. The curriculum focuses on self-defense and leverage, not brute strength. 5. Student Discounts While not always advertised online, many academies near universities offer Student Rates with a valid ID. It is highly recommended to ask about this during your free trial. Summary Gracie Barra [**Northridge**](https://gbnorthridge.com/northridge-kids-self-defense-anti-bullying-bjj-gracie-barra/) is essentially the “home gym” for CSUN. Its location on Nordhoff St, world-class instruction under Romulo Barral, and flexible schedule make it the most logical and high-quality option for anyone connected to the university.
