Here is a detailed guide on how to get started. 1. Book Your Free Introductory Program You typically cannot just walk in and join a class. The academy requires a scheduled introductory session to assess your fitness level and introduce you to the basics. How to Book: Online: Visit [gbagoura.com](https://gbagoura.com) or their booking portal to select a time slot. Phone: Call (818) 357-4074 to speak with a program director. The Experience: This is a risk-free, complimentary session. You will meet the instructors, tour the facility, and learn basic movements in a private or semi-private setting. 2. Prepare for Your First Visit Arrival: Arrive 15 minutes early to sign waivers and get fitted for a loaner Gi (uniform). Attire: Bring a tight-fitting t-shirt or rash guard to wear under the Gi. Hygiene: Ensure fingernails are trimmed and you are clean. Bring flip-flops for walking off the mats. 3. Select Your Membership After your trial, a staff member will present membership options. Unlimited Access: Grants access to all eligible classes 6 days a week. Limited Access: A lower-cost option for those training 2x a week. Startup Costs: Be prepared for a registration fee (often waived during promos) and the purchase of the Official Gracie Barra Uniform. 4. Start Training (GB1 Fundamentals) New students enter the GB1 program, which follows a 16-week cycle. You will learn core self-defense and ground techniques in a safe, no-sparring environment until you are ready for advanced classes. Start Your Journey Today: By calling (818) 357-4074 and booking your intro class, you are taking the first step toward physical fitness, self-defense mastery, and joining a world-class community.
